Hunger Fighters Network

The Coalition supports food pantries so they can feed more people in need.

There are more than 700 food pantries and soup kitchens throughout Philadelphia. Although they keep families from going hungry every day, they struggle to keep up with the growing number of people coming to them for help.

In 2009, nearly half of food pantries turned people away because they ran out of food.

Our Hunger Fighters Network provides funding, training, guidance and other support to these important programs through:

  • The Walk Against Hunger: The Coalition's annual fundraiser for food pantries and hunger-relief organizations in the Philadelphia region.
  • VIP (Victory in Partnership) Project: Our groundbreaking initiative to network food pantries within their communities, so they can work together to fight hunger on a larger scale.
  • First Tuesday: A monthly workshop for food pantry representatives on best practices and others topics to improve their programs.

Coming this summer!

Want to support a food pantry in your community? This summer, we'll launch Adopt-a-Pantry. It's a new web portal where you can find a a nearby food pantry, learn about its needs and donate online to meet those needs.

Adopt-a-Pantry is made possible with funding from Stroehmann Bakeries.
