Saru Jayaraman, Keynote Speaker

Good Food for All conference’s Keynote Address will be given by Saru Jayaraman! Saru is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Restaurant Opportunities Centers United (ROC United) and Director of the Food Labor Research Center at University of California, Berkeley. An activist, organizer, and educator, Saru is dedicated to giving food workers a seat at the table.


Lauren Todd, Ending Food Waste Study


So here’s the big question: How can education influence consumers' attitudes and behaviors to decrease food waste? Come see Lauren Todd offer some answers when she shares her Ending Food Waste study at Good Food for All! A graduate student alum of Eastern University, Todd makes the argument for the role of education and community-based social marketing approaches to reduce consumer food waste.


Samuel Jones, Director ROC

Care about social and economic justice? Then come to Good Food for All to meet Samuel Jones, the Director of Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC) of Pennsylvania and a leading figure in this fight here in Philly. Jones will discuss ROC’s work with coalition partners to enact paid sick days and wage theft legislation, as well as talk about their efforts in support of One Fair Wage and Paid Family Leave.


Mrs.Wajeehah Mujahid- Rashed, Masjidullah Center for Human Excellence

Meet Mrs. Wajeeha Mujahid-Rashed, a Philadelphia volunteer and hunger fighter working with the Masjidullah Center for Human Excellence. Mrs. Muajahid-Rashed will be presenting at Good Food for All and will share information about how Masijidullah provides food to homebound seniors, older adults, families and single people in need in Philadelphia! She will also share about the Double Lyte Posse, a motorcycle club that has assisted with a local food bank and free turkey distributions.


Carly Zimmerman, CEO of Challah for Hunger

Meet Carly Zimmerman, the CEO for Challah for Hunger and one of our guest presenters at Good Food for All. Zimmerman will teach us how to make challah, a traditional Jewish bread, and will discuss how Challah for Hunger uses challah to build community and fight hunger. Her favorite challah is fig, rosemary and sea salt!


Living Well Community Players

Join us at Good Food for All and experience Health Theater with the Living Well Community Players. Living Well is a theater group of older adults who develop, write and perform skits to educate their peers about healthy lifestyles and issues facing their communities. Through their performances, Living Well harnesses the power of culture to promote healthy aging in healthy communities! 


Kathia Ramirez, CATA Food Justice Coordinator

Get to know the growers behind your local produce with Kathia Ramirez, the Food Justice Coordinator at CATA –The Farmworker Support Committee/Comité de Apoyo a los Trabajadores Agrícolas. Kathia is from Los Angeles, CA although her parents migrated from the State of Oaxaca, Mexico where they have a history of working the land. Ramirez will share the experiences and voice of farmworkers in South Jersey, as well as their struggle to have access to local healthy fresh food and their exposure to pesticides.
