The Thomas' Walk Against Hunger helped raise funds for nearly 100 food pantries and soup kitchens, but our partners Acme Markets and the Philadelphia Eagles are going the extra mile to support local food programs in our area.
Launched on Saturday at the Walk and running through May 4, the fourth annual Teaming Up to Kick Hunger campaign allows shoppers at local Acme Markets to purchase $10 bags of healthy food, which will be donated to local food pantries in each store's neighborhood!
Last year's in-store campaign raised 99,351 pounds of healthy food, bringing the total to more than 400,000 pounds donated directly back to the communities that Acme operates in.
"Acme and the Philadelphia Eagles are dedicated partners in the fight against hunger," said Laura Wall, executive director of the Coaltion Against Hunger. "These donations to support local pantries will increase healthy food access for many of our friends and neighbors who struggle to put food on the table. We cannot overstate the importance of the work that both Acme and the Eagles are doing to help alleiviate hunger in our region!"
