Statement from the Coalition Against Hunger

Moments ago, the House of Representatives passed the 2018 budget resolution by a count of 219-206. This resolution would strip billions of dollars from vital programs that help families make ends meet and strengthen communities. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps), will be among those most deeply cut if the Senate  follows suit with a total disregard for working families who struggle put food on the table.

This is not the end. We will continue to fight against cuts to SNAP, and further efforts that will only serve to widen economic inequality in America. However, we do want to take a moment to express our deep thanks to the following Congressmen – including four Republican members - all of whom had the courage to vote on behalf of their constituents, and low-income families throughout Pennsylvania.
