There are an estimated 700 food pantries and soup kitchens throughout the Philadelphia region. Although these programs keep families from going hungry each day, they struggle to keep up with the growing number of people coming to them for help.
Our Hunger Fighters Network provides funding, training, technology and other tools to these important programs through:
- VIP (Victory in Partnership) Project: This initiative connects food pantries and soup kitchens within Philadelphia so they can coordinate resources and work together to fight hunger in their communities. VIP members attend monthly workshops to help strengthen their programs, and may receive donated food or emergency funding for kitchen equipment from The Coalition.
- The Race Against Hunger: The Coalition's annual fundraiser brings together more than 4,000 people and raises more than $200,000 for food pantries, soup kitchens and hunger-relief agencies in Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey
