How the Walk+Run Helps

More than 100 food pantries and soup kitchens benefit from the Walk+Run Against Hunger. The annual event also supports local hunger-relief agencies, including the Coalition Against Hunger, SHARE, Philabundance and The Food Trust.

"The Philadelphia Senior Center used Walk funds to supply services at three branches with daily meal service and purchase new kitchen equipment. PSC serves nearly 70,000 free and discounted meals to seniors 55 and over per year." --Helen Sunga, Philadelphia Senior Center

“The Walk lets the world see what's being done in Philadelphia when it comes to hunger. I tell to my clients about this event and they are actually donating their own money, even though they don’t have much. The money makes a huge difference. This year we’re looking to get a new vehicle to pick up food.”--Vernessa Wilson, Mizpah S. D. A. Church food pantry (Germantown)

"We serve two hot meals a day and used the Walk money to provide healthier foods, like fresh meat and produce." --Elizabeth Coyne, Manna on Main Street (Lansdale)

“The Walk is wonderful. It helps give us more food for our food cupboard, it’s good exercise, and it gives you an opportunity to bond with other programs that are participating in the walk and the chance to share information. My favorite part is the camaraderie among the different groups.”--Annette Bruce, Allen AME food pantry (West Philadelphia)
