World Food Day 2007
The World Food Day Celebration on October 5th was an outstanding success, with more than 130 people in attendance. The half day event, co-hosted by the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger and the University of Pennsylvania's Fox Leadership Program, Civic House, and Project on Civic Engagement, included panelists Lucy Mayo and Fern Gale Estrow, who spoke on the exciting program and policy developments taking place in New York.
The program also included discussions on increasing participation in federal and state nutrition programs and building fresh food partnerships. The diverse range of ideas sparked in these two panels provided food for thought for the final session, facilitated by Harris Sokoloff, the Director of the Center for School Study Councils at the University of Pennsylvania. Many thanks to those who participated and made this World Food Day a wonderful event!
