Legislative Thank You Notes
Legislative Thank You Notes
Most citizens only contact elected officials when they have a concern. However, it is extremely important to let lawmakers know when they are doing something you appreciate. Being a Champion against hunger may sound easy, but it’s not. Please take a few minutes to write a handwritten Thank You Note to those who are working hard to solve our hunger crisis.
Contact information for U.S. Senator Bob Casey, State Senator Mike Brubaker, and State Representative John Myers can be found here.
Instructions: Use as much of this sample language as you find useful. Please feel encouraged to make this note your own. Do not forget to include your Home address as well as the name of your congregation.
Dear Representative Myers, (Dear Senator Brubaker),
As a person of faith, deeply concerned about the people in my region who are struggling with food insecurity and hunger, I want to thank you for your leadership on this issue.
Here in the Philadelphia region, we have reached a crisis level, and we thank you for understanding that government has a responsibility to facilitate the partnerships and strategic conversations necessary to end our hunger epidemic. Thank you for attempting to do this through your leadership in the Legislative Hunger Caucus. This good work must continue and gain momentum. I hope that the Hunger Caucus will move towards creating/implementing a comprehensive plan to end hunger in the Commonwealth; city by city, town by town.
This will require statewide leadership, creative thinking, and local community groups/organizations committed to partnering with policymakers. I look forward to celebrating your continued leadership and helping you to bring more of your colleagues on board.
Sincerely,

Dear Senator Casey,
As a person of faith, deeply concerned about the people in my region who are struggling with food insecurity and hunger, I want to thank you for your leadership on this issue. You are one of the first policymakers to recognize this as a public health issue.
Here in the Philadelphia region, we have reached a crisis level, and we thank you for understanding that government has a responsibility to facilitate the partnerships and strategic conversations necessary to end our hunger epidemic. This good work must continue and gain momentum. We need a comprehensive plan to end hunger in the Commonwealth; indeed in this country.
This will require bi-partisan leadership, creative thinking, and local community groups/organizations committed to partnering with policymakers. I look forward to celebrating your continued leadership and helping partner with you in any way that I can.
Sincerely,
