Demand is increasing for area soup kitchens and food pantries as organizers get ready for next month's Walk Against Hunger.

The 14th annual Walk Against Hunger happens on April 10th and can't come soon enough for hundreds of soup kitchens, food pantries and other feeding organizations who depend on the proceeds of the walk and run to fund their operations for the next year.

Carey Morgan is executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger:

"About half of them have had to turn people away in the past year because they've seen their demand go up so much. They're often run out of church basements and local community centers and it's really a testament to what a community can do to feed its neighbors in a crisis like this."
