Oct. 16: Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger Hosts 1st Annual Hunger Fighter Awards
(Philadelphia, PA) — Mayor Michael Nutter will join the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger to honor the women and men who run the estimated 700 soup kitchens and food pantries in Philadelphia at the 2009 Hunger Fighter Awards. In his speech, Mayor Nutter will call for new ways to end hunger in the city, where a quarter of all residents live in poverty.
The inaugural Hunger Fighter Awards also kicks off Stroehmann Nourishing Neighbors, in support of the Coalition’s efforts to provide more food, funding and volunteers to food pantries and soup kitchens.

Presented by the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, an inaugural event to recognize the volunteers who run the estimated 700 food pantries in Philadelphia. The event also kicks off the Stroehmann Nourishing Neighbors™ campaign, which will support the Coalition in providing more resources to these programs.
