City Soup: Donations Partners

Featured Programs

An important way to help our food insecure communities is to contribute to organizations that focus on systemic change.

We've chosen the following programs because:

  • They are taking fresh and innovative approaches towards hunger advocacy.
  • They work across communities and are holistic in nature.
  • They believe in enhancing nutrition for all, especially low income Philadelphians, and increasing access to fresh produce.

City Harvest

Sponsored by the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, the community-based City Harvest network raises naturally grown vegetables and distributes them to Philadelphians who lack access or the means to purchase fresh produce. City Harvest is a unique partnership between the Philadelphia Prison System; SHARE (a food distribution network); and the Health Promotion Council of Southeastern Pennsylvania. The Food Trust

Your contribution will allow The Food Trust to continue and expand its efforts to connect SNAP/Food Stamp participants with neighborhood farmers’ markets. These projects seek to increase the purchase of fresh, local produce in low-income communities at The Food Trust’s farmers’ markets. Education on fresh-food preparation is offered. Local food growers are also supported in their business development efforts.

The Fresh Produce Fund

The Fresh Produce Fund, a partnership between the SHARE Food Progam and Common Market, is an emergency fund that provides fresh produce to local food cupboards.  SHARE Food Program is a nonprofit organization serving a regional network of community organizations engaged in food distribution, education, and advocacy.  The Common Market is a wholesale consolidator, marketer and distributor of food produced in the Philadelphia region.

Please choose with your group the organization you would like to support and start gathering your donations to bring to the Walk Against Hunger on April 10.
